Biography
It is no easy feat for any female DJ to be taken seriously, especially one that is trying to break through in today’s ever popular, ever surging UK Hardcore scene brimming with male and female talent combined. For Clodhopper, however it has been a journey of discovery, hard work and dedication leading her to become one of the fastest rising female DJ’s & Producers in UK Hardcore today.
For Clodhopper, music is in her blood and always has been, her parents are both professional musicians and as a result, she spent her childhood learning Violin, Piano, Clarinet and Saxophone, this didn’t stop her as a teenager however though falling in love with the early rave scene and Happy Hardcore in it’s early guises. This led to an eventual and fairly natural desire to explore the club scene and so – in 1997 Clo took the plunge and experienced her first lust for DJ’ing whilst at one of the early Slinky sessions at Bournemouth’s legendary Opera House venue, little did she know that a decade on she would be playing there herself as a resident, this time under the banner of the massive South Coast brand Fusion.
In January 2004, she purchased her first set of decks and has never looked back since, now famed for her work on three decks at any one given time Clo’s passion for UK Hardcore and the mixing and producing thereof has grown from strength to strength, it did after all take less than a year for her to secure her first booking at Delirium after seeing off her competition to ensure a place on their up and comers line-up. It wasn’t long before these led to further bookings from not only Delirium, but also a string of promoters that had all been sold on the word of mouth buzzing around about a certain female Hardcore DJ that was absolutely smashing it wherever she went.
Her first official Main Room booking came in September 2005 for Fruit Club at the infamous but now sadly long gone Brunel Rooms in Swindon which gave Clo the opportunity to expand to the one key piece of technology that now remains at the forefront of our scene- the CDJ; allowing her to further nurture her talent mixing CDJ’s, Turntables and FX, Clodhopper quickly became a force to be reckoned with and a female one at that.
This of course spilled over into the Mainstream propelling DJ Clodhopper into the hands of the big brand promoters inner circle such as Uproar, Raverssential, United In Hardcore, Oxygen, Monthly Mayhem, Hardcore Evolution, Electrik, Who’s Hardcore, Hardcore Till I Die (HTID), HTID In The Sun which then gave rise to past residencies with Happiness Hardcore, Extreme Overload and provided the opportunity for back to back sets with some of her friends, heroes and favorites (and in some cases all three) including Geos Crew, Druid, Flyin, Stormtrooper, D-lyte, JB-C, Chunky Boys, Sc@r and Clipper (from the short list)!
Currently Clodhopper is resident for the ever popular Core Addicts Nose & Lips brand, Hardcore Marrows, Digital Acceleration and the almighty smash hit sell-out UK Hardcore event Fusion.
In the studio she has worked closely with Raw Elements’ DJ Sc@r on two productions ‘Subsonic’ and ‘Bring It Back’ for the Raw Elements label (which are set for release later this year) and has also worked with Hardcore legend DJ Ramos on his infamous RSR label on a track with Deanne entitled ‘Shine Down’; with another already in production.
As a producer, Clodhopper has been signed to the Electrik Euphoria label owned and operated by original bad boy DJ and MC Marley. Other recording artists Clodhopper has worked with include Deejaybee (Higher State Music) and MC Knight, showing very clearly that as a DJ and producer from the new school of Hardcore, Clodhopper is an artist that very quickly has projected her skills not only to attract the interests of the top tier of those all important Kings of the UK Hardcore scene as it is presently, but also within the attentions, focuses and favour of rave nation as we know it today. Get ready, because rest assured anytime soon at a rave near you, there is one name that is set to excite, energise, raise the foundations, blow the roof and lift your spirits and that name… is Clodhopper.
